If your pet has high blood pressure, your veterinarian may prescribe telmisartan. It is used to treat a variety of conditions including high blood pressure, and proteinuria, the inappropriate protein loss by urination in dogs and cats. It is also used to treat some forms of kidney and heart disease, and to reduce side effects from other blood pressure medications. High blood pressure or hypertension adds work to the arteries and heart, therefore it’s important to treat it to avoid long term damage.
Telmisartan is an angiotensin-II receptor blocker that works by blocking substances that cause blood vessels to tighten in the body. It's a biochemical formed to maintain and relax the blood vessels, therefore lowering blood pressure, and increasing the supply of oxygen and blood to the heart. It can also alter the way blood flows through the nephrons in the kidneys.
Help improve your pet’s quality of life with telmisartan. All our medications are made in our state-of-the-art pharmacy lab in Arizona, USA.
